Blissfully Unaware

I often miss being a child. I miss the innocence that I once had. I think that's why I enjoy my boys so much. Just knowing that they are blissfully unaware of the craziness that is LIFE. The way their minds wander, the questions they ask. Like this morning right when Bradley woke up he said he wants a BMX bike ('cause the one he has isn't good enough?). He would not stop asking about it. He said "They don't have bikes at Target" and I told him they did, but not that many. I said maybe they have some at (gulp) WalMart. (Anyone that knows me, knows that I HATE WalMart!!!) So he said,"Then we could go to Kids Like Us." I chuckled and said,"You mean Toys R Us?" At least he got one of the words right.

He also keeps asking me if I was born in the 60's. I don't know why. But I'm not going to get offended since he doesn't realize he's implying that I'm WAY older than I am.

Right now he sees me online and just asked me,"What's that, Bike.com?" He's really obsessed with this bike thing. Tomorrow it's going to be something else. Before the bike it was a Spiderman 3 toy.

This is for Sarah and Erin. I was watching the super cute video Erin made for Sarah's birthday. Bradley was standing behind me and said,"Wow those are some BIG glasses!" I said,"Yes they are son, yes they are." I loved the flashback to all the fashions in the late 80's early 90's that the video brought flooding back. And apparently he did too!

My point is that it's great to be a kid. I love the random (and honest) comments that come from out of nowhere. Bradley's biggest concern in life is that he won't be able to be good for 6 more months so he can get the BMX bike that he wants soooo badly for Christmas. Or when his next play date is. Or when I'm going to let him get a Happy Meal again because he wants the toy (that I will secretly throw away at just the right moment after the thrill is gone). Side note: Bradley just said, "I'm probably on Santa's Good List right now" And he's just curious "If I had decided to order the bike..." My decision is: Santa's going to think about it.

And then there's Landon. I would LOVE to know what he's thinking. Right now I'm holding him, so I have the pleasure of typing with one hand, so he's probably thinking, "If I could just touch that thingy that mom is poking, I would be so happy! I would taste it and slobber all over it! But I'll settle for slobbering all over her hand instead. I think I'll poop now."

Gotta represent!

Tonight I got to go see my little precious niece Kiersten again. She was passed out when I got there. When she woke up it was time to eat and since I was holding her Christina asked if I wanted to feed her. I said no because I don't really know how the whole bottle/burping thing goes. So I asked if I should give her to Tyler. She said yes. So I turn around and see him sitting with a bright pink Boppy Pillow! It totally caught me off guard I couldn't help but laugh! As my mom, Christina, and I are cracking up Tyler says,"What?!? I gotta represent the Boppy!" in his high pitched defensive voice. Now I love Boppy pillows. I've got two. Couldn't live without them. But there was something about him sitting there eager to feed Kiersten with this BRIGHT pink Boppy around him. I hope you all enjoy this picture as much as I enjoyed seeing him "represent" it!!! It was so fun to see them work together too. Here's the diaper change: One running to get the rubbing alcohol for her belly button. Then the other going to wash hands. Then she goes pee without her diaper on (she had a bad rash and they were letting her hoo-hoo get some air) so one of them had to get the Clorox wipes (for the changing table, not her) and another cloth to go under her because that one got wet. Then they were trying to figure out how to apply baby powder, which I've never used so was no help. Christina says to put it in the diaper, and Tyler says "Really?". And Christina shrugs her shoulders and says, "That's what the back of the bottle says." Then after Tyler sprinkled the diaper with baby powder they proceed to BOTH put on the diaper. One did the left side, the other the right. Now that's what I call Team Work! It was so fun to watch them go. Kiersten just layed there, with her cute self, the whole time probably thinking Go Team Darrington!!!

Brotherly Love

Today one of Frankie's friends from work who lives around the corner brought over some stuff for Landon. Among those things was a Shrek outfit, the size was 12 months. As I'm talking on the phone Bradley comes in my room wearing it! Of course he couldn't snap the crotch, but I almost fell out of my seat! It was like a 3/4 length sleeve on him. It was too funny! This is the 6 year old that still wears his costumes from when he was 1, 2, and so on. Somehow he gets them on. They usually all look like 3/4 length sleeves, with the legs at about bermuda-short length. If you look closely at his cheek you'll see what looks like a scratch or something. Guess again. It's a hickey from Landon!!! Bradley loves to lay with Landon on his tummy. And Landon loves it too. He's usually screaming with enjoyment, pulling Bradley's hair/ears, and also sucking on his cheeks while Bradley squeals. He latches on to his cheeks and goes to town. That's what I call Brotherly Love!!!
Here's Landon wearing the Shrek hat. I've always called both of my boys Shreky because their ears poke out at the top and I think it's so cute!

I just LOVE my two little Shreky's!!!

Father's Day!!!

Yesterday we had a lovely Father's Day. Bradley and Landon gave Frankie an engraved keychain from Things Remembered that says "Bradley and Landon's #1 Daddy". And I got him an engraved business card holder that has his name and "The Palm" under it. He gives out his card to customers to get call parties (when he is requested to serve their party). Call parties are really important and he goes through soooo many business cards because everyone loves him. (That's why he's one of the top three waiters in the whole restaurant. Shout out to Frankie!!!) And since they tip him about 50% in some cases I think he should have something nice to pull those cards out of. He used to just keep them in his wallet, but I think this is a lot nicer.

We barbequed at my moms and swam. We attempted to put Landon in the pool for the first time. But by the look on his face, I think the water was still too cold for him. He looked like the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man when the Ghostbuster's are shooting him! Haha! Then later in the evening we went to the Farina's to swim some more. Both of the boys were pooped by the time we got home so Frankie and I had popcorn and watched a movie. I hope everyone enjoyed their Father's Day as much as we did!

Baby Kiersten

Earlier today Tyler, Christina, and baby Kiersten came home from the hospital. So tonight I went got to go and see her. She is such a cutie! You know I love a chubby baby!!! She's just perfect! Tyler and Christina are just smitten. It's so cute to see them with their little baby girl. You can tell they are amazed at what they created.
It's so funny because she's got the longest fingers I've ever seen on a newborn! Not freakishly long, but unbelievably long. My dad was over there too. We were making jokes about her being in the WNBA. Or that when she's playing with Landon he better be nice to her or she'll just grab his entire face and put him in check! They are so precious though! I'm just in love with that little baby girl!
I'm sure Tyler's going to be sending pictures soon. He's got some really good ones on his camera.

Here we go.....

Okay, so Sarah told me awhile back to check out her blog. So I did and noticed I could also read Erin's, Jerolyn's, Beth's, and Nate and Stacy's. I felt like a bit of a stalker or something, because Sarah was the only one who knew I was reading her blog. Well, I wanted to get in on all the fun so here we go. (And I hope no one minds the past stalking!)
We are nearing the end of the first week of summer and I'm sensing that I'm going to run out of things to keep Bradley's mind stimulated and entertained at the same time. I try to trick him into reading and writing and what not. He was great in school, but never enjoys "learning" with me. Like today we played school and he was the teacher. (Landon and I being his only students I was totally the smartest kid in the class. Haha.) For example I'd ask him to help me spell things and ask him what things said. But I don't know how long he will enjoy that.
It's just too hot to leave the confines of the house to go to a park during the day with the baby so at 6:45 we walk down to the park at the end of the street so Bradley can run free and get his energy out. (It sounds like I'm talking about a dog doesn't it.) I usually pitch to Bradley because he loves to play baseball and is good at it. Yesterday I escaped what could have been really bad. He's never done this before so I was totally caught off guard. I pitch the ball to him and that's when everything went into slow motion. He swings, misses the ball, and lets go of the bat. As it's coming straight for me I'm thinking HOLY- you know what!!!!! And then I snap out of it and jump out of the way just in time to spare my knees. Yeah, that game ended real quick.
Well, Frankie's home from work so I better go downstairs because this is the only time I get with him child free!
