Tiny Treasures

I noticed in Kindergarten that I better start checking Bradley's pockets because I would always find strange things in the laundry. (I learned the hard way with Chapstick in the dryer.) He would come home with the most random things you could find on the ground. Well, he's still doing it and it just makes me laugh. It's kind of fun. What will I find today?? Sometimes it's a scribbled message that somehow didn't make it to the trash. Sometimes a bottle cap. Sometimes the very tiny tip of a crayon. You never know. So I decided to collect these things for two weeks to see what I'd find in his pockets. This is what I collected over a two week period. I'm sure there's more things he put somewhere. Who doesn't need a broken rubber band?? Who doesn't love a sticker with no stick?? Puffy paint peeled off of something- I'll take that. These are the things that must run through his mind. I don't even know what the red plastic thing is on the little key ring. But he must need it for something. I throw these things away because this stuff is the last thing I need around my house. After I throw this stuff away sometimes he'll spot it in the trash and ask why I threw it away. And he'll inform me that it's "really cool" or "I'm going to use that". So now I make sure it's in the bottom of the trash so he can't see it!
Bradley is so funny about his "things". When we're playing out front I just laugh when he's riding his bike and he stops to pick some tiny treasure up from the ground and stuffs it in his pocket. Another thing to add to one of his "collections" (he's got a lot of those).

SO cute and funny! One boy's trash is another boy's treasure! LOL

And he's a great baseball player too! Fun game tonight!

That is so cute. Amazing the things he finds. Loved the R puffy paint, so funny. You have found the key to throwing away your childrens things, always covered up at the very bottom of the trash. I remember when we put the Dukes of Hazzard big wheel or maybe it was the Chips big wheel, out with the trash. All I remember is the big wheel was pretty worn down. Well strangly that big wheel ended up back on the side of the house. Hummmm, Tyler?, Dustin?

Bradley sure does get his game on with that baseball. Enjoyed watching tonight!

Good thing you are checking his pockets. Who knows what would happen if all of that ended up in your spin cycle! What a great mom you are. We aren't to that stage yet, but I have found an occasional acorn in the washer. Maybe it is time to start checking!

my hubby still leaves his chapstick in his pants and it goes through the dryer and has ruined some of my clothes!! It was good to see you the other day at the party even though Laynie was having a little bug melt down.. i guess she is all girl.

Love the treasures! Some kids never outgrow that. I still find random things in Karsten and Chad's pockets sometimes. Gracie usually has a collection in her backpack, too. Into the bottom of the trash can it all goes! They never remember it anyway. I check every pocket of every pair of pants/shorts that goes in the washer no matter who they belong to. There is nothing worse than opening the dryer to find, in my case, red crayon melted on all of my whites. Yeah, lesson learned!

Just one more reason to love boys!! So cute!! It's so true, too. What ARE they thinking as they pick up the always-needed broken rubber band and shoving it in their pocket?!?! Such a crack-up!

Karley does that also! I'm always finding a "tiny treasure" in her pockets! Saturday I found a whole bag of twisted, rusty metal treasures that she told me she found behind a dumpster....
GREAT!!!
